A classic build for anyone getting started in DIY electronics — an engaging exploration of FM radio, with Bluetooth control from across the room.

Building an FM receiver from scratch usually means juggling resistors, capacitors, transistors, and an amplifier. Instead, this kit is built around a single integrated chip — the RDA5807M, a broadcast FM stereo tuner with a fully integrated synthesizer and a low-IF digital audio processor — on a PCB that complies with the Feather and STEMMA standards, programmable via a CircuitPython library.

The kit also receives and decodes Radio Data Service (RDS) content — the same protocol that shows song and station names on a modern car stereo.
